This week is National Walk Your Dog Week. Walking your dog is extremely beneficial to both you and your dog. As fall weather is starting, head outside and enjoy the wonderful weather with your furbaby! While walking your dog every day would be great, even taking walks 3-4 times a week can be beneficial. Besides losing weight, and lowering blood pressure, walking 30 minutes a day, 3 days a week will cause both you and your pup to feel happier, and increase energy for you and let out excess energy for your pup. This will also reduce behavior issues such as tearing things up in the house/chewing, excessive barking and housebreaking issues. Typically this increases the bond between owner and dog. For those that work long hours or who have busy schedules that do not allow time for dog walking, consider hiring a dog walker. This will especially be helpful for high energy dogs, or dogs that need extra exercise to reduce weight.
